How can a loving God send humans into a lake of fire?
1. God is righteous so He "has" to punish unrighteousness. The problem is not that we humans do bad things every once in a while (that´s what we usually think), but that unrighteousness is found in all lost humans. We sin without interruption. Also all the good things which we should have done are sins of omission.
2. Sin is a pollution which cannot be cleansed in eternity forever !! Therefore the punishment does not stop, neither: forever dying in the fire. It is the only way for God to restrain sin in humans who rejected Christ; for only by the almighty blood of Jesus Christ atonement of sins is possible for a lost human while he is still on earth - if he wants to believe in Jesus Christ. The gravity of sin can be seen in this cruel punishment: God poured out all His righteous wrath upon His Son.
3. Every human is created in the image of God and has a free will. God respects it totally. If a human decides himself against Jesus Christ here, he will be seperated over there from the source of life in the place of torture and second death.
4. Sin in its character and effect is so grievous that it cannot be compared with anything. It is like the earth would be in a black hole and all poeple would have ebola. This is still a cute comparison, for sin has eternal consequences.
